Jason Croot's Acting career started back in 2000, he completed a N.C.F.E in performing arts in his native city of Bradford, the following year saw Jason play a school teacher alongside Paul Mcgann in TV Drama Bloodstrangers in the same year he appeared has a Mancunian Gangster inVacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise Directed by Danny Boyle, Jason played alongside Timothy SpallJason moved down to London in 2002 to pursue his acting career, training at the Poor School the following year he completed a Drama Diploma at University of Birbeck. His early stage performances included Demetrius in Midsummer's Nights Dream, Edmund Tyrone in Long Days Journey into Night,Biff in Death of a Salesman & Jerry in Pinters Betrayal. 2003 saw his Film career take off since then he has acted in over 30 Short Films one of which the Neighbour swept awards at Paris, Barcelona and Athens the role has a Paranoid Schizophrenic also was shown in Berlin where it took 3rd place at the Berlinale, more recently he played the Druggy boyfriend of Victoria Shalet in the Shoreditch films 'We Saw Zebras' He has also acted in 3 feature films, one of which played alongside Hugo Speer in Carmen's kiss as Carmen's chief henchman; his Show Reel can be viewed on http://www.jasoncroot.com/DIRECTORS' CRITIQUESTHE NEIGHBOURJason Croot acted as the lead character in my short film "The Neighbour", where he played a person enclosed in himself and in his house, making paranoid assumptions that everyone wanted to harm him. There was no sync-dialogue in the film and his thoughts were heard as a voice-over.Jason delivered the role in an amazing way, not exaggerating with his body language, but making a subtle yet clear denotation of the mood he was in, in every moment.His voice-over was also very well delivered, and contributed to its final form with his ideas, rather than just waiting direction.{Stathis Athanasiou, Director}{youtube 'The Neighbour' Stathis}INBETWEENJason Croot played the more intimidating and quiet of two members of a terrorist group based on the 1970's German teh SLA/Bader Meinhoff gang in my film Inbetween. He did an exemplary job and impressed me at every level. In preparation I had him watch Ingmar Bergman's film "The Magician" in which Max Von Sydow says almost nothing for the first 60 minutes. This was because his role involved a great deal of silent presence. His acting as I have seen it has a very strong kind of Al Pacino or Sean Penn kind of aggressiveness with a touch of European refinement. He has a distinctive look and powerful physique and a noticeable sensitivity under the intensity. He pulled off the role well as he was able to command a presence, which is quite rare. He also executed his fight scene very well. As an actor he is very easy to work with and is a team player in the true sense of the word.{Dave Antonelli, Director}INCIDENTAL WEEKENDJay approached the part of Will in Incidental Weekend with total dedication. Before filming started, he spent a lot of time with me, sharing with me his impressions of what the character should be and also really trying to get a feel for what we'd been thinking when we came up with the character. Due to the time constraints of filming in a foreign country, Jay never once complained about this lack of time,he simply threw himself into the part and gave it all he had, as one of the principal characters, Jay was involved in pretty much every day's shooting. Jay was always ready to lighten the mood after long, tiring days filming and didn't let the extended filming hours get his spirit or enthusiasm down. It was heartening for us as filmmakers to be working with someone who genuinely seemed to believe in the project and wanted to see it made as much as we did. Our only regret is that we haven't been able to show him the fruits of his labours yet as it's still going through a lengthy post-production process![Writer/directors - Nick Kirk/Richard Allison]{youtube'Incidental weekend'}TEMPO TEAMJason acted as a wasted rock star in my TempoTeam commercial. He made abrilliant performance, Specially his subtle acting together with his greatlooks really made the images look excellent and created the kind of dry comedy I like. {Bart Timmer, Award Winning Director}
